Hermes Fellowships for Postdoctoral Student in Humanities and Social Sciences, France

Hermes Fellowships were designed to offer young and promising foreign researchers in the humanities and social sciences the chance to be visiting researchers in French universities and research centers. This program is open to researchers from: China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru, and South Africa.

The Hermes Program is financed by the French Ministries of Foreign Affairs and of Education and Research, the Department of Human and Social Sciences of the National Center of Scientific Research (CNRS), and the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l`Homme (FMSH).

Hermes fellowships are granted for 3 to 9 month periods. They were designed in order to give foreign researchers the opportunity to:

  • carry out an individual research project within a hosting laboratory;
  • become part of French and European scientific networks;
  • set up lasting partnerships between their home institutions and the hosting institutions in France

Hungarian State Scholarships for Foreigners, Hungary

Through the Hungarian Scholarship Board Office, the Hungarian Minister of Education and Culture offers scholarships for foreign students and professors of higher education institutions as well as research fellows who intend to gain further professional experience in Hungarian institutions of higher education or research. Scholarships can be applied for under two systems:

BILATERAL AGREEMENTS
The Office of the Hungarian Scholarship Board (hereinafter HSB) welcomes applications by citizens of countries (and territories) that have a valid/effective educational co-operation programme with Hungary, or a bilateral agreement signed by the Hungarian Government or the Ministry of Education and Culture of Hungary and the relevant ministry of the given country (or territory). Assessment and shortlisting of applications is conducted by the relevant home country (or territory) scholarship authority or Ministry of Education, as well as dissemination of all information regarding the application procedure and deadlines. The list of countries (or territories) and contact information on the partner scholarship offices can be found on our webpage (http://www.scholarship.hu/static/angol/partners/).

Although the Hungarian Scholarship Board accepts applications from these countries (or territories) submitted directly to its Office, please note that the applications evaluated and forwarded by the home country (or territory) authorities always take precedence.

Sato International Scholarship Foundation (SISF), Japan

The Sato International Scholarship Foundation grants two types of scholarship for self-supporting students from ASEAN countries as well as Southwest Asian countries enrolled in a Japanese undergraduate or graduate institution:
1. Scholarship for Self-Supporting Students
2. Scholarship for Short-Term Exchange Students.

Students from the Following Countries are Eligible to Apply
Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, East Timor, Vietnam.

Scholarship for Self-Supporting Students
The applicant must be residing in Japan, enrolled in or accepted to a legitimate program.  Please apply through the students’ office of your university.

Amount of Scholarship
Undergraduate students: 120,000 yen/month
Graduate students: 180,000 yen/month (plus additional support to cover cost for attending conferences)

Duration of Scholarship: 2 years

Fujitsu Asia Pacific Scholarship

The Fujitsu Asia Pacific Scholarship (Fujitsu Scholarship) Program, sponsored by Fujitsu Limited, provides financial assistance for postgraduate education and cross-cultural management training to participants from the Asia-Pacific region. Fujitsu Limited, an international leader in information technology, telecommunications, semiconductors and electronics that is headquartered in Tokyo, established the Fujitsu Scholarship to commemorate its 50th anniversary in 1985.

The Fujitsu Scholarship program is available for academic programs at JAIMS. JAIMS, located in Honolulu, Hawaii, is a nonprofit postgraduate institute established by Fujitsu in 1972. Many Fujitsu Scholarship recipients/graduates are now working for corporate and social-service organizations in their home countries as well as in other nations.

The Fujitsu Scholarship is available to citizens of selected Asia-Pacific countries in the following formats:

  1. Full-tuition scholarship and a monthly stipend are available to citizens of the following countries: Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.
  2. Full-tuition scholarship with no monthly stipend is available to citizens of the following countries/areas: State of Hawaii, Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Islamic Studies, Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, University of Oxford, UK

The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Scholarships (OCISS)
Launched in 2009, the OCIS – Oxford Scholarships support British Muslim students as well as those from developing countries in Asia and Africa to read for degrees at the University of Oxford. Under the programme, up to five scholarships each year are available for undergraduate students from Muslim communities in Britain. A further five scholarships are available for postgraduate students, at least two of whom will be UK students from Muslim communities, while the rest will be students from specified countries in Asia or Africa. The scholarships are available to students undertaking study in a range of fields relevant to the needs of Muslim societies.

Postgraduate Scholarships
Applications for OCIS – Oxford Postgraduate Scholarships for the academic year 2010-2011 are invited through the University`s normal admissions procedures. The scholarships cover University and college fees and a grant for living costs. An application for a scholarship is made at the time of completion of the Graduate Application Form.
