The Computational Bioscience Research Center (CBRC, http://www.kaust.edu.sa/research/centers/computational.html) of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST, http://www.kaust.edu.sa/) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researchers for different fields of Computational Bioscience, Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. Specialists with biology and medical backgrounds, as well as those from engineering, chemistry, physics, mathematics or computer science are welcome to apply.

Ideal candidates will have a doctoral degree with a strong background applicable to bioinformatics, computational biology, ‘omics’ problems, and complemented with strong publication/research record. Candidates must have good communication skills in spoken and written English, ability to work as a part of a larger team as well as independently, think creatively and have excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to efficiently develop software, good experience in mathematical modeling, or strong experimental experience will be considered an advantage.

Successful applicants will work in one of the technologically most advanced academic research environments today on challenging cutting-edge problems of biology and medicine. These will include knowledge extraction, discovery of bioactive compounds, disease biomarkers, regulatory and signaling networks, and quantitative/predictive systems biology. The work will heavily rely on integration of wet lab experiments and computational analyses. Researchers in CBRC have access to one of the most powerful supercomputing facilities in academia and outstanding set of special and core experimental facilities.

International MSc in Biosciences Scholarship, University of Nottingham, UK

The University of Nottingham – This International MSc in Biosciences is designed to equip you with the skills to help you develop a career in industry, academia or research. Students spend four months in the UK and eight months at the University’s campus in Malaysia where the research project is conducted in one of the four specialist areas: biotechnology, crop improvement, ecology or tropical crop production.

The International MSc in Biosciences is a 12 month course commencing at the end of September and ending in September of the following year. The first semester (4 months) is spent in the UK, after which students transfer to the University’s Malaysia campus.
