The Karrakatta Club Dame Mary Gilmore Award aims to further the education of an eligible female postgraduate student. The award offers a scholarship to meet expenses associated with a doctoral degree or Master by Research. The award will be offered biennially.

Applicant information:
Certified copies of each of the following;

  • Final undergraduate transcript, research proposal approval letter.
  • Australian citizenship certificate or birth certificate.
  • A statement of support from the applicant’s supervisor.
  • Applicants who have presented conference papers, or published journal articles, whether or not connected with current research, should submit copies of these items with evidence of peer review, if applicable.
  • The successful applicant will be notified by mid December.
  • The award will be presented at a function of the Karrakatta Club, to be held in the year following selection.
  • The successful applicant will be required to submit a report in writing on their work to the members of the executive of the Karrakatta Club, and may be invited to address members of the Club.

Edith Cowan University Postgraduate Research Scholarship (ECUPRS), Australia

This scholarship is designed to support postgraduate students of exceptional research promise to study full-time at Edith Cowan University in a Doctoral degree (PhD) or Master by Research. The scholarship is offered on the basis of academic merit and research performance. Applicants will automatically be considered for an APA or an ECUPRS; successful applicants will be offered either an APA or an ECUPRS.

Amount: $25,000 (tax free) per annum (3 years for Doctoral degree or up to 2 years for Master by Research) as well as a thesis allowance

Eligibility criteria:

  • Academic merit, qualifications equivalent to an Australian first class honours degree or a Master by Research.
  • Research, significant professional and research experience combined with lesser academic qualifications may also be considered if deemed to be equivalent to first class honours.
  • May not concurrently receive a faculty scholarship or other major scholarship.

  • Higher Degree Research (including Masters by Research)
