The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) was first conceived to foster a vibrant and culturally diverse research community in Singapore. A joint collaboration between A*STAR, the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the SINGA welcomes all international students to pursue a PhD education in Singapore.
Under the SINGA, students will receive PhD training at their chosen lab at A*STAR Research Institutes or two of the top universities in Asia- NUS and NTU. Students will work in a multi-cultural environment, alongside distinguished and world-renowned researchers in state-of-the-art facilities. Singapore is the gateway to some of the fastest-growing economies in the Asia-Pacific region. With a PhD education in Singapore, students are well-positioned to establish global links that will take their research career to greater heights.
Research Areas
Research areas under the PhD Programme fall broadly under two categories:
(i) Biomedical Sciences; and
(ii) Physical Science and Engineering.
Eligibility
- Open to all international students
- Graduates with a passion for research and excellent academic results
- Good skills in written and spoken English
- Good reports from academic referees
Coverage
- Full support for tuition fees for 4 years of PhD studies
- Attractive monthly stipend over 4 years of PhD studies, which can support you comfortably. The stipend amount is S$ 24,000 annually (equivalent to US$16,000*), to be increased to S$30,000 annually (equivalent to US$20,000) after passing the Qualifying Examination.
- One-time Airfare Grant of S$1,500 Return Airfare
- One-time S$1,000 Settling-in Allowance
*At exchange rate of US$ = S$1.50
