Admission Schedule

1. Notice for the KGSP students : Jan. 26th ~ 27th
2. Application Period : Jan. 30th ~ Apr. 13th
3. Screening and selection(Sogang University) : Apr. 23th ~ 25th
4. Applicant recommendation: Apr. 30th

Eligibility for Application

1. An applicant holding foreign citizenship and both parents are also foreign citizen (must not Korean citizens)
• Dual nationality holder with Korean citizenship will not be regarded as a foreign citizen.
2. Applicants should be in good health, both mentally and physically, to stay in Korea for a long period of time.
3. Should be under 40 years of age as of September 1, 2012
4. Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree as of Aug 31, 2012
• Applicants who are enrolling or have already enrolled in the same academic program in Korea as the one they are applying for will not be admitted.
• For Master’s program (or Integrated Master’s & Doctoral program): students who hold a Bachelor’s degree or a diploma that is equivalent to or higher than Bachelor’s degree
• For Doctoral program: students who hold a Master’s degree or a diploma that is equivalent to or higher than Master’s degree.
• Applicants who are expecting the adequate diploma should present their diploma by Aug 31, 2012 before entry.
5. Should have a grade point average (G.P.A.) at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, grades/marks/score of 80% or higher from the previous attended institution
• If the grade is difficult to convert to percentage, official explanatory documents from the attended university are required.

Application Procedure

• Candidate will be determined by total evaluation of Self-introduction, Study plan, Recommendation letter, Language proficiency test score etc. all the submitted documents.
• If there’ll be exceeded number of applicants that Sogang university can recommend, Sogang university will decide final candidates by the university’s procedure(ex, KGSP recommendation committee etc.).
• When the applicant’s ability is judged as ‘not enough’ to study, they will not be selected regardless of the admission quota.

Applicant Considerations

1. Dual recommendation by more than one organization is not acceptable. Applicants can get only one recommendation from among Embassy, University and Adoption organization.
2. Submitted documents will not be returned to the candidates.
3. Incomplete or incorrect documents are subject to rejection by NIIED. (Even after entry to Korea)
4. In case of submitting copied documents inevitably, applicants must get the confirmation from the recommending organization.
5. Applicants who don’t hold a diploma may submit a certificate or letter of expected graduation.
6. Applicants must accurately fill out the health checklist based on truth. All successful applicants must take a medical exam in Korea(including an HIV and TBPE drug test) in accordance with the requirements of the Korea Immigration Service and the KGSP program. If the results show that the applicant is unfit to be a KGSP student, all costs for departure to their own country will be borne by the KGSP applicant.
7. Applicants may submit one or two copies of published papers, if available.
8. Applicants may submit the copies of awards after confirmation from recommending organization, if available. Applicants must submit all the documents by check list order.
9. Applicants who are currently studying in Korea or graduated from Korean university must submit one recommendation letter of the head of department of the relevant university.
10. Applicants can’t apply for Master’s and Doctoral integrated course.
11. No Student is allowed to transfer school during the entire period of program once he/ she enters the school.
12. After being selected as a KGSP student by NIIED, he/she will take the Korean language course which is designate by NIIED and admission procedures which is designated by Sogang University to enter graduate school.
