Guitar Tutorial - Galway Bay - Irish Folk Songs
Learn how to play this classic Irish folk song, Galway Bay, by watching this easy video tutorial by Flynner.
Lyrics:
If you ever go across the sea to Ireland
Then may at the closing of your day
You will sit and watch the moon rise over Claddagh
And see the sun go down on Galway Bay.
Just to hear again the ripple of the trout stream
The women in the meadows making hay
And to sit beside a turf fire in the cabin
And watch the barefoot gossoons at their play.
For the breezes blowing o'er the seas from Ireland
Are perfumed by the heather as they blow
And the women in the uplands diggin' praties
Speak a language that the strangers do not know.
For the strangers came and tried to teach us their ways
They scorned us just for bein' what we are
But they might as well go chasin' after moonbeams
Or light a penny candle from a star.
And if there is going to be a life hereafter
And somehow I am sure there's going to be
I will ask my God to let me make my heaven
In that dear land across the Irish sea.

Elin Synnøve Bråthen SHIVAS BLOW IN CAGES This poprock song delivered by Elin Synnøve Bråthen and her band (Hilmar Kristoffersen: keys, Glenn Phillip Nilsen: bass, Haldor Røyne: guitar, Trygve Tambs-Lyche: drums) is included on the appraised album THE ANCHOR AND THE DREAM, released 8 March 2010 (label: Curling Legs / distributor: Musikkoperatørene), one of the "surprise tracks" with its grunchy rock sound. Music & Lyrics: Elin Synnøve Bråthen. The video was filmed on location in Ireland (outside Galway) just before darkness fell on the first day of shooting footage for this album. The video for this track is not included on the album, whereas the other 3 videos are all put on the album as bonus material. Filmed by Nils Petter Lotherington, cut by Erland Edenholm, sound and finish by Giert Clausen, photography: Astrid Lunke, styling of Elin: Cårejånni Enderud (the pants are actually sowed straight onto the body...). Enjoy it!

SHARON SHANNON, 'GALWAY GIRL' FINALE, FLEADH CHEOIL 2010 CAVAN IRELAND Exciting, high energy end to a great gig, & intriguing to watch Sharon Shannon interact dynamically with musicians, people backstage, and members of the audience simultaneously , while effortlessly delivering amazing music, with the same warmth as her captivating smile. Video work is a bit shaky, but hopefully shares the wonderful spirit of the fleadh cheoil, that evening in Cavan, on Sunday August 22nd, 2010. The town was full to capacity, when Sharon performed, with many people listening from a distance, down 'packed' streets. There were so many people in the town (organizers mentioned 85000), that the show ended early to ensure safety of music fans. From Sharon's website: Sharon has recorded and toured with....Bono, Adam Clayton, Sinead O'Connor, Jackson Browne, John Prine, Steve Earl, Mark Knopfler, The Chieftains, The Waterboys, Willie Nelson, Nigel Kennedy, Alison Krauss, and Shane Mc Gowan... HeavyMetalizer - Commodore C-64 Retro Guitar Tribute Well... now it get's a little nerdy for sure. But let's face it, I grew up as a child of the electronic age and as a kid had the chance to see all those nice early Video Games and Computers in action. Actually I got the idea to do this just the other night, when a friend of mine mentioned old Arcade games. My first computer in the early/mid 80s was a Commodore C64 with spectacular 64 kb of memory. Programs back then used to load from cassettes on a device called the Datasette. Loading times where huge and I can remember some games loading for like 30 minutes (and it happened quite often that you encountered loading errors and had to restart again). To make those Loading times shorter some companies made nice musical themes so it was not all that boring - well it still was boring. But some of those early computer musicians are still in business and still make music. If you are interested in electronic music you might wanna check for guys like Rob Hubbard, Jeroen Tel, Martin Galway (which composed this original Ocean Loader Theme back then), Chris Hülsbeck or David Whittaker. The C64 back then was famous for it's music SID chip which had a really unique sound and sometimes is still used for samples today. Guitar Arrangements by me. Enjoy this tribute!
