Art Graham - Republican for Florida State Senate - District 8

As a Jacksonville City Councilman, Art Graham, 45, has earned a reputation as a common-sense leader who brings people together to solve problems. His business and engineering experience have helped him ask the tough questions.

Art grew up in a military family whose strong values-discipline, personal responsibility, and trust-prepared him to succeed in life. The transfers typical of military life taught him the gift of quickly connecting to people.

After high school Art struck out on his own. With a partial scholastic scholarship, he worked his way through Georgia Tech. On his way to receiving his Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering, Art participated in the school's co-op program, spending as much time doing actual work in the technology and engineering group of a major company as he did attending classes.

Following graduation, Art focused on his career. Working for major American companies, he designed and marketed industrial equipment, and ran environmental and recovery operations. He was promoted regularly, and added management responsibility to his engineering duties. Art became experienced in facility planning and maintenance, cost-benefit analysis of capital improvements, and budgeting.

In his first run for public office, Art was elected to the Jacksonville Beach City Council in 1998. He emphasized public safety and controlling city spending. Art was active in the creation of the police department's Community Response Team, and supported the Zero Tolerance policy that helped regain control of the beach and the downtown area.

In 2003 Art ran for Jacksonville City Council, with the support of elected officials and well-known leaders of the business community. He easily beat a tough opponent, and was re-elected without opposition in 2007.

Our free enterprise system, individual rights and heritage of limited government are all at risk of being lost. We the people have the power to repair our great country. Elections have consequences and ideas matter. We need Congressmen with the courage to just say "No." My name is Larry Kobrovsky and I am running for Congress to put an end to the fiscal and political madness in Washington. I am a conservative. I am a Republican. My wife, Susan, and I have been married for 26 years and we have two daughters, Valarie and Abby. Just like you, I have to count my pennies, live within my means, and pay my bills. We should require Congress to balance the country's budget and not spend us into bankruptcy. I witnessed firsthand the excesses of government waste and the damage caused by political correctness when I served on the Charleston County School Board. The lessons I learned there made me an advocate for school choice and led to my career path of making sure government followed the Constitution as the law of the land. I led the successful effort that forced the School District to obey the Constitution and stop using racial quotas. Under our Constitution, there is only one type of citizen. We are not black citizens or white citizens or Hispanic citizens. We are American citizens. The ...
